Maputo, Mozambique – A new Non-Alcoholic Beverage Producers Association (APROBENA) will be chaired by Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) in Mozambique following its recent launch, seeking to drive local production and employment creation, among others.
The association also aims to promote sustainable development, innovation and competitiveness and brings together leading companies in the sector.
Neyde Pires, Regional Director of Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability at CCBA Mozambique will represent the company as the chairperson.
Members acknowledge the sector’s potential to support local production and generate employment for young people. They have committed to reducing dependence on imports and strengthening the industry in Mozambique.
Pires said the establishment of the association reflects the industry’s intention to work together and position itself as one of the drivers of economic growth and innovation in Mozambique. The association aims to promote the industry’s interests while fostering responsible practices and innovation, as well as ensuring product quality and food safety. It also aims to help build a diversified, sustainable, and inclusive economy.
The members will seek to harmonise quality standards, promote corporate social responsibility practices, and strengthen the relationship between the private sector and regulatory bodies — contributing to a more stable, competitive, and transparent ecosystem.
Pires said: “At CCBA, we are committed to operating with integrity, creating shared value for our business and the communities we call home.
“Leading in environmental, social and governance, and business standards, we drive sustainable growth and societal progress, ensuring our business creates lasting positive impact.”
Pires said she was honoured to represent CCBA as the chair of APROBENA, in a position that would allow her to help promote sustainability, innovation, regulatory compliance, and ethical practices within the Mozambican market.
