Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda recognised with Bronze Employer of the Year Award

Kampala, Uganda – Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) has been recognised for its commitment to job creation in the country with the Bronze Employer of the Year Award by the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE). 

FUE is the recognised voice of employers on social and economic issues, both locally and internationally. It is the officially accredited body representing Ugandan employers at the International Labour Organisation’s Annual Labour Conference. 

CCBU, a company in the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa group, was selected for the award based on its submission providing evidence of how it supports job creation and entrepreneurship. FUE also conducted a verification visit to confirm the accuracy of the information provided. 

The company employs over 1,000 permanent and fixedterm contract employees, and over 400 contractors across its four plants at Namanve, Mbarara, Rwenzori and Plastic Recycling Industries, Nakawa. 

The company also works with many business partners throughout its value chain, supporting entrepreneurship by creating an ecosystem of shared resources, opportunities and innovation which in turn increases job opportunities in their respective businesses.

Matthew joined us from the Clicks Group, a JSE Top-40 company, where he has been the Head of Legal and Company Secretary since 2016. In this role Matthew successfully navigated a highly regulated environment, including overseeing compliance with company laws and the JSE Listings Requirements. As company secretary, he managed governance at Board level as well as being the Chairman’s chief of staff. Prior to this, Matthew was a Legal Manager with Anglo American, a major multinational diversified mining group, which includes three companies listed on the JSE, with extensive operations across Southern Africa.
