CCBA helps women in hospitality polish their skills

October 21, 2022, Windhoek – A total of 65 women in the Namibian hospitality industry will sharpen their skills during three-day training sessions in Windhoek and Swakopmund, hosted by Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) in Namibia.

The training that is aimed at helping the hospitality industry recover from the losses of Covid-19 will include customer service, food and beverage service techniques, mixology and an introduction to Coca-Cola products.

Altogether 100 young wait staff and bartenders are expected to complete the training, 65 of them women.

The training forms part of CCBA in Namibia’s economic inclusion programme, with the aim of boosting skills and enhancing the employability of women and youth.

 “CCBA in Namibia is committed to creating inclusive opportunities for women in our communities and in the business because they are integral to our country’s shared success,” said Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability Manager Enid Johr. “We define economic inclusion as opening gainful economic opportunities to under-served communities by providing access to markets that boost income and yield sustainable earnings, whilst leveraging the business and the industry,” said Johr.

“We understand that our business can only thrive when the communities we serve thrive too. Investing in communities ensures our business sustainability. Most of all, we are all Africans and are part of our communities.

“CCBA is focusing on employability and entrepreneurship in its economic inclusion strategy,” said Johr.

“Our aim is to improve skills and business knowledge for women, resulting in them accessing other opportunities.

“When we grow our business the right way, not just the easy way, we help create inclusive growth opportunities for our communities, women and youth, our customers, our employees and our shareholders, for a better shared future,” said Johr.
