Soccer fans treated to thrills of World Cup at official fan park

Gaborone – Soccer fans can live every moment of the biggest sporting showpiece on earth in the thrilling environment of a VIP FIFA Fan Park as the Soccer World Cup gets under way in Qatar this week.

Coca-Cola Beverages Botswana (CCBB), in collaboration with Stanbic Bank Botswana and DStv, brings fans an action-packed set up, with prizes galore on offer at the official fan parks at the Grand Palm Hotel and Avani Hotel Gaborone.

In line with Coca-Cola Beverages Africa’s (CCBA) vision to refresh Africa every day and make the continent a better place for all, the company’s Botswana subsidiary will be making sure soccer fans experience the excitement of the World Cup as never before.

“Africans are passionate about soccer and we at Coca-Cola Beverages Botswana are passionate about our consumers,” said CCBB managing director, David Chait.

“The Soccer World Cup is the pinnacle of the game, when the greatest players and teams battle for the glory of hoisting the trophy, and it is watched by millions of fans around the world. We wanted to make sure that our local soccer fans have the opportunity to experience the passion, the drama and the thrill of this event as if they were in the stadium.

“We’re looking forward to hosting soccer fans and making sure they enjoy every game with us.”

Matthew Welz

General Counsel and Company Secretary, CCBA

Matthew joined us from the Clicks Group, a JSE Top-40 company, where he has been the Head of Legal and Company Secretary since 2016. In this role Matthew successfully navigated a highly regulated environment, including overseeing compliance with company laws and the JSE Listings Requirements. As company secretary, he managed governance at Board level as well as being the Chairman’s chief of staff. Prior to this, Matthew was a Legal Manager with Anglo American, a major multinational diversified mining group, which includes three companies listed on the JSE, with extensive operations across Southern Africa.
