Coca-Cola Kwanza scoops Human Resource Management Excellence Award

Dar es Salaam – Coca-Cola Kwanza, a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) in Tanzania is proud to announce that it has won the Human Resource Management Excellence award from the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) during the recent Employer of The Year Awards 2022.

The awards ceremony held in Dar es Salaam was graced by The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, HE Dr Philip Mpango.

“This is a true reflection of our actions and a clear demonstration of our dedication and commitment to making our workplace safe through dynamic and sound behaviours, policies and practices,” said general manager of Coca-Cola Kwanza, Unguu Sulay.

The Employer of the Year Awards is conducted annually to recognise and award the best employers in Tanzania with best practices in business and human resources management.

The judging process is based on 14 criteria including governance and leadership, human resources and management excellence, managing diversity and inclusion, talent management and development as well as quality, productivity and innovation.

According to Sulay, CCBA has been recognised by the Association for its creation of economic inclusion programmes for women, youth and people with disabilities.

“Our aim is to create greater shared opportunity for the business and the communities we serve across the value-chain. Opportunity is more than just money, it’s about a better future for people and their communities everywhere on the African continent,” said Sulay.

“People matter. Our planet matters. We believe in doing business the right way by following our values and working toward solutions that benefit us all. Profitability is important, but not at any cost.”

CCBA is strongly committed to building a robust pipeline of talent to ensure that the business operates at full potential into the future.

Matthew joined us from the Clicks Group, a JSE Top-40 company, where he has been the Head of Legal and Company Secretary since 2016. In this role Matthew successfully navigated a highly regulated environment, including overseeing compliance with company laws and the JSE Listings Requirements. As company secretary, he managed governance at Board level as well as being the Chairman’s chief of staff. Prior to this, Matthew was a Legal Manager with Anglo American, a major multinational diversified mining group, which includes three companies listed on the JSE, with extensive operations across Southern Africa.
