Maputo – Gas-powered delivery trucks are set to reduce fuel costs and improve vehicle safety for Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) in Mozambique.
The company unveiled the first two vehicles that have been converted to run on compressed natural gas and diesel at an event in Maputo today.
“Gas-powered trucks are not only more energy efficient and environmentally friendly, they are also more economical to run and because of the size, structure and location of the gas tank, safer,” said Duncan Wyness, general manager of Coca-Cola Sabco the subsidiary of CCBA in Mozambique.
“At CCBA, we are a proud industry leader in developing increasingly sustainable ways to manufacture, distribute and sell our products.
“We use our industry leadership to be part of the solution to achieve positive change in the world and to build a more sustainable future for our planet.

“Reducing our environmental impact requires continuously improving processes, enhance innovation and strategic allocation of resources and investment, and this move to gas-powered vehicles is one aspect of CCBA’s commitment to reduce our carbon footprint and impact on the environment.”
