Coke bottler commences operations in Malawi

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), the largest Coca-Cola bottler in Africa, commenced operations in Malawi on 29 August 2022. This follows the closing of the transaction with Castel (Southern Bottlers Limited, or SOBO) to acquire Castel’s soft drinks business through CCBA’s local subsidiary Coca-Cola Beverages Limited (CCBL).

CCBSA accelerates transformation and retains level 1 BBBEE status

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) has retained its level 1 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) status for following a rigorous verification process. The company attributes this achievement to strategic investments in amongst others, procurement which saw an increased spend with black-owned suppliers from 50% to just over 61% of its total adjusted procurement spend, of which 34% is with black females.

In this role Matthew successfully navigated a highly regulated environment, including overseeing compliance with company laws and the JSE Listings Requirements.
